GridWise Expo Overview

M2M SegmentsEvolving the Smart Grid

The GridWise™ Expo is organized to further the development, education and commercialization of the GridWise Vision.

The increase in distributed renewable energy components can only be possible with a broad and comprehensive real-time information infrastructure to control and manage all of the components of the electricity delivery system.

The GridWise vision is a critical component of such a future system. A vision that maps out the creation of a Smart Grid to manage electricity system from generation, through transmission, distribution and consumption.

Held at The Santa Clara Convention Center, CA, as part of ConnectivityWeek 2008 the GridWise Expo will comprise of multiple industry-related events over three days.

ConnectivityWeek's uniqueness is that the event gathers a number of key subjects that are inter-related, around the common theme of energy and sustainability. This is presented with an understanding that the main issues of technologies and solutions facing the differing audiences are in fact similar if not common - differing only in context and application.

Organized in partnership with the GridWise Architecture Council (an initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Energy), the GridWise Expo has the following objectives:

Education

Educate the business & technology communities on the future of the Smart Grid.

Demonstration

Show Smart Grid technology principles, products and solutions.

Business Development

Outline opportunities in a multi-billion market for smart energy.

Out-Reach

Connect technology providers with utilities implementing Smart Grid.

Legislation

Review opportunities arising out of the Energy Act of 2007
